Theatre

MAC presents a summer theatre production each year – up to 30 students participate in the production each year.

Summer Theatre

Each summer, MAC offers a Children’s Theatre performance, directed by Lori McDaniel. The performances are open to the public after approximately five weeks of rehearsal. Mrs. McDaniel has extensive theatre and directing experience. Audiences have raved over past summer’s performances of “The Stinky Cheese Man,” “Mother Goose Was Eaten By Werewolves,” “Schoolhouse Rock Live,” “Bedtime Stories” and “Junie B. Jones, The Musical.” For upcoming auditions/performances click here.

Current Production

Each summer, area children audition for a summer production – full length play or musical – and receive up to 5 weeks of theatre instruction – acting, singing, dancing, blocking, and set and prop construction. Parents & community volunteers join the play director to provide an exciting and fun experience for students. COVID resulted in a cancellation of the 2020 summer production.

Past Productions

Starting in 2015, the summer theatre program has won rave reviews from audiences for their productions of “The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales,” “Mother Goose is Eaten by Werewolves,” “Schoolhouse Rock Jr. Live,” “Bedtime Stories” and “Junie B. Jones: The Musical.” Proceeds from ticket sales are used to finance the next year’s production, in addition to community sponsorship and grants.
